Because we believe in the importance of the family, Phoenix is a parent-governed, family-oriented school. Get involved! The volunteer efforts of all our parents make it possible for us to provide high-quality, educational childcare at a reasonable price. Every parent has some talent he or she can contribute to Phoenixcomputers, landscaping, administrative skills, music, etc.
Parent Involvement Opportunities
You can choose any of a number of ways to help out: serve on the Phoenix Board of Directors, help with fund-raising activities, family picnics, parent workdays, or helping with special activities. Work can include classroom help, office help, serving as a room parent, committee work, administrative tasks to be performed at home, maintenance and grounds work, etc.
Parent Work Agreement
We can't do it without you
to keep Phoenix the great place it is, we need your help. The family of each full-time Phoenix student agrees to work a minimum of six (6) hours per quarter (SeptemberNovember, DecemberFebruary, MarchMay, JuneAugust) helping out with the school. Board members are exempt from this requirement, since their duties far exceed 6 hours per quarter. Other guidelines apply to single-parent families and families with more than one child enrolled. Families enrolling in the middle of the quarter will have hours prorated.
Recording Credit for Hours Worked
Each time you perform work for the school, make sure to record your hours in the Parent Involvement notebook in the front office. If you have not met your commitment for a specific quarter, you will be assessed a fee as outlined in the following paragraph.
Parent Involvement Assessments
We realize that families sometimes experience hectic times when they cannot meet their involvement commitments. In these instances, parents will donate money to enable Phoenix to hire someone else to do the work, assessed at a rate of $20 an hour for each unfulfilled hour. Remember, though, this is only for emergencies. Your involvement is what makes Phoenix the wonderful program that it is, and your unique skills and abilities are very important to our success!
