Great Teachers!
Our teachers make Phoenix great! Our staff consists of professional, highly qualified teachers who are dedicated and committed to your child's well-being. We use experienced substitutes to fill in during vacations or illnesses. The Phoenix program is headed by Director Beverly White, who has more than 20 years of experience in the preschool environment. Her experience and enthusiasm make Phoenix a great place for kids to learn and play.
NAEYC Accredited Program
NAEYC is the National Association for the Education of Young Children. NAEYC develops specific criteria for high-quality childcare programs, and sponsors a very rigorous accreditation program. Phoenix has earned a NAEYC Accreditation, which involves periodic visits from NAEYC and strict adherence to NAEYC criteria.

Few schools earn this accreditation, and childcare experts recommend you choose a NAEYC-accredited program for your child.
Outlined below are some of the most important NAEYC guidelines:
- Frequent, positive, warm interactions among teachers and children.
- Learning activities appropriate to childrens' age and development: blocks, painting, dress-up, outdoor play, etc.
- Specially trained teachers and director.
- Varied, age-appropriate materials.
- Enough adults to respond to individual children.
- Regular communication with parents, who are welcome visitors at all times.
Parent-Governed, Non-Profit
Many families are attracted to Phoenix because it is governed by the parents. Each year the parents choose from among themselves a Board of Directors. The Board sets policies to guide the running of the school, and heads up committees to assist the director with various projects including fundraising, finance, planning, etc.
Because Phoenix is a certified non-profit corporation (503c), decisions are made in the best interests of the children rather than to generate profit for the owners. Tuition dollars go directly toward paying teachers and keeping the school running.
Parent Involvement
We welcome parents in the classroom at any time, and invite them to participate. We also depend on them to help keep our school running. Every parent has unique skills and interestsfrom accounting to computers to carpentry. Because we are non-profit, we rely on our parents to take on many of the responsibilities associated with running the school: serving on the Board; helping in the office or classroom; fundraising; participating in a parent workday.
At enrollment, each family agrees to contribute 6 hours of volunteer time per quarter (for children enrolled full time).
